Play submissions
Avalanche is committed to fostering the innovative and unconventional voices in the Chicago theatre community, by developing new plays and playwrights. Through a series of workshop readings and feedback sessions, we hope to foster the growth of new plays in a constructive and encouraging environment, and to offer a platform for new playwrights to have their work seen.

We are specifically looking for plays that will benefit from a development process.

We are not accepting play submissions at this time. Submissions will reopen from December 1 - 15, 2024.

Actor submissions
We are always looking for new collaborators to help us bring the plays in our Next Draft Series to life! The Next Draft process is typically a time commitment of 2 read-throughs with feedback discussions, 3 staging rehearsals, and 2 performances, taking place over the course of 3-4 months.

Building community
We believe that a robust Chicago theatre community requires collaboration, sharing of ideas and resources, and the support of a wide variety of voices in communication. As a highly skilled collective of artists whose goal is new play development and the fostering of a supportive Chicago theatre environment, our goal is for Avalanche to be an accessible resource for the entire community. All things play development related: that's us.
