About the artists:

Baneet Chawla

Baneet Chawla (they/them/theirs) is a Chicago-based artist and aspiring theatrical jack-of-all-trades. They are a member of the Company25 ensemble at Albany Park Theater Project, in their immersive production, “Port of Entry.” They most recently performed at RhinoFest 2024 in Alex Kingsley’s “The Dreamless Patron.” When they are not being silly onstage, they can be found crocheting, writing, and feeding string cheese to their cats, Spider and Worm.

Jorge Salas

Jorge (he/him) is a Chicago-based actor excited to be part of this production! His recent stage credits include: La Ronde (Meat Machine Theatre), Madam and Steve (Lazy Susan Theatre Co), The Language Archive, and Jeff nominated, Buried Child (AstonRep). Film/TV work includes: 40 Before 40, Deli Boys (hulu), Don’t Panic, and BAM (Broke Ass MotherF*ckers). He is represented by DreamTeam Talent, and CTN. Jorge works in Tech during the day, plays soccer, and lives for amazing foodie experiences. Thank you for supporting live theatre!

Karina Patel

Karina Patel (she/her) is a devised theatre artist, director and dramaturg originally from London, UK. She is currently the Literary Associate at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and New Works Manager at Jackalope Theatre Company. Karina has developed new and devised work with The Story Theatre, The Understudy Chicago, APIDA Arts Festival, TimeLine Theatre Company, Token Theatre, and more. She has also served as an assistant director at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre, and the Repertory Theatre of St Louis. Mantra Radhakrishnan

Mantra (she/any) is a Chicago-based playwright, director, and actor from Bangalore, India. A soon-to-be graduate from Northwestern University's Theatre/Playwriting program, her work was recently seen Off-Broadway as a part of 24HourPlays, and produced by Vertigo Productions and Lovers and Madmen productions. As an actor, she was recently seen in Radial Gradient (Shattered Globe Theatre), Dance Nation (Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center) and short film George (CineYouth Film Festival). As a director, she loves physical theatre, puppetry, stand-up, and rhyming words.

Maya Kumar

Maya is a Chicago based South Asian American actor. She is a recent graduate of Northwestern University with a B.S. in Theatre and Political Science. She has been involved with a number of student productions and films at Northwestern and is now continuing her work in Chicago. Maya is extremely grateful to be a part of this process!

Preksha Desai

Aden Haq is new to Chicago and is starting out his acting career. Primarily a film actor who has had supporting roles on short films, he is now branching out into theater. Born and raised in Pakistan, he has lived in the United States for the last 10 years ; his passion lies in his affinity for stories rooted in diversity and personal struggles.

An avid swing dancer, filmmaker and photographer; outside of acting, Aden also spends his time reading, cooking and picking up new hobbies.

Preksha Desai

Preksha (she/her) is a recent NEIU grad and works at an Insurance agency during the day and hopes to do/does something in relation to theatre in the evening. She’s got the best of both worlds and takes different kinds of joys from each. Preksha’s love for the arts is forever fostered by her lovelies AKA parents, sibling, and everyone who warms her heart. Preksha is absolutely thrilled to be a part of Monkey and is super grateful for this opportunity. She has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this process. Bollywood one day soon!

Ronnie Derrick Lyall

Ronnie is very excited to be a part of the premier of Monkey! Ronnie has done several other projects throughout the city, but currently he can be found at the Second City Conservatory where is currently a student! Ronnie would like thank his friends and family that have consistently supported him throughout his theatre journey! Shail Modi

Shail Modi (he/him) is a playwright and actor who has been in Chicago for two years now. As an actor he has worked with The Hyde Park Community Players, The Factory Theater, Blue In The Right Way, and Midsommer Flight. His dream is to be in a Bollywood movie without knowing hindi or how to sing or dance.

Sripadh Pulligilla

Sripadh Pulligilla has been part of the Chicago theatre community for a couple years. This is his first play with Avalanche Theatre, and he is excited! He is represented by Shirley Hamilton.
